Pittsburgh Penguins Parade

With the Stanley Cup finals last night, the Pens were favourite to win. And they carried on their fine form by beating the Detroit Red Wings 2-1. The Penguins won the series 4-3 and it was a game everybody anticipated. The final series was decided in the very last game, with Talbot getting on the score sheet twice whilst Jonathan Ericsson reduced the deficit to a one goal advantage. Marc-André Fleury kept the game going with a save which kept Niklas Lidstrom from scoring and kept Red Wings at bay. Just as Detroit did at last years Stanley Cup Final, the Pens got the victory in the enemys territory. Here is a Youtube video which ranks the best Stanley Cup Finals Game 7s:

Personally, I'm a Rangers fan. We had a great start to the season but then our form dipped. At one point, all I wanted was for us to finish in a playoff spot. In the playoffs, it mirrored how our season went. We started off good but then slumped in form. I'm happy the Cup is now back in the Eastern Conference!

Here is a Youtube video which was a preview of Game 7. A very interesting clip:

Luke Ravenstahl, Mayor of Pittsburgh, secretly wanted the Penguins to lose. With a cup victory comes a parade to celebrate it. Their NFL team, the Steelers had already won the Superbowl and a huge parade which cost $6.5million. The Mayor will have to throw another parade for the Penguins. It has been a very good year for sports fans in Pittsburgh!
